Ugh, too many late nights has caught up to me and no vitamins and water or positive thinking are gonna save me this time. I have the aches and chills, you know of the flu variety. My mom defenses let me down. Double ugh. It really is the worst. I'm hoping I'll be better to ring in the New Year. The biggest bummer is now I'm going to start out behind on my big New Years Challenge. Will you forgive me if I start a couple of days late?
You are going to need a few things for this year long challenge, so its time to get set. Here's what you are going to need...
1. Some way of exercising. It can be anything you want, or are already doing. I'm going to be heading to the gym more, and doing some pilates at home. You don't need to go out and spend money to exercise, I promise. Getting outside is my favorite thing and I love love love the 100 Pushup Challenge. They also have a 200 situps and 200 squats challenge. Crazy good and you'll be as tough as nails. Hmmm, maybe I should do that one again.
2. Some resolutions. This isn't going to be just about exercising, but being better. Being the person that you want to be. Healthier, happier, nicer, more organized, whatever you want it to be about. Mique at 30 Days has a great free printable to get you started! Also check out Karen at Karina Ink for a great post on making your list. I highly recommend getting a journal or a notebook so you can keep track of your journey this year.
3. Mostly, resolve. Time to stock up on some reserves. Like I said this is going to be a year long thing, and if you don't have any resolve than its probably not going to work. I'm planning on picking three things a month to work on. One spiritual, one physical and one to help me be a better mom/wife/friend. I'm hoping you'll join me so we can do it together. Cuz whats better than having your friends help you along?
So what do you say? Are you with me?!
{sorry if I'm not a very good motivator when i have the flu}
{sorry if I'm not a very good motivator when i have the flu}
Well of course I had to sweeten the deal! Because I love you and like to give you bribes, uh I mean presents!
I've got ten 2 week passes to Golds Gym here in Kennewick. So if you are local and want to get a good start on your fitness goals, be one of the first ten people to email me at makingitmyown@gmail.com to snag yours!
I know,I know but I'm not leaving everyone else out.
Meet my friend Celeste. She is one of my greatest friends and fitness guru extraordinaire. Yes is a Boston Marathon qualifier , and is developing her own product, and is featured on running blogs, but she is also the best girl to have around. Her laugh is fab, and I'm so happy to be working with her on this. She is going to be doing some guest posts on fitness and helping us stay motivated. {And if you are going to be pregnant, are pregnant, or have been pregnant, than you definitely want to check out her blog, Due Fit.} Celeste is giving away her CORE 4 Program. And here she is to tell you exactly what that entails!
Hello everyone! I'm Celeste and I'm thrilled that Jenn has asked me to be here and with you all over the next year. And to start the new year off right, I'm going to give away a free 6 week session for my new program - CORE 4 ($79 value) It is for any woman who wants to reform their abs, while strengthening the pelvic floor muscles, low back and improve posture all at the same time. Typically women who do the CORE 4 Program improve their waistline by 3-4" in just 6 weeks.
I've finally put this program together because I have found that most women (especially those that have given childbirth) tend to have several of the following: weak pelvic floor muscles which contributes to stress incontinence, low back pain, poor posture and the dreaded "Mommy Tummy" caused by either abdominal separation or stretched out transverse abs. I create custom programs with progressive transverse abdominal exercises that help pull the belly back in...which is why inches can be taken off the waist in 6 weeks.
The 6 week program includes:
CORE 4 Assesment Form (Clients fill this out before I design the 6 week program for them. By Video instruction they measure the waistline and check for Diastasis Recti)
Videos for each exercise
Weekly Emails with new progressive exercises each week
CORE 4 Assesment Form
Expert Advice
Skype Session if needed
NO CRUNCHES!
NOT TIME CONSUMING!
**If the winner has Diastasis Recti (abdominal separation) They'll need to wear the splint ($35 VALUE) for 6 weeks. This along with exercises helps bring the abs together fast! They will know after watching the video and filling out the assessment form)
This is the BEST thing a woman can do to take care of their body! When the inner core is strong...the spine is aligned correctly, and it prevents a host of problems such as slipped discs, further abdominal separation, prolapsed uterus, sciatica, posture and neck pain...etc!
Ummm, who doesn't want that kind of help with their abs?
Celeste is also offering all Making It My Own readers a discount on her CORE 4 program. Sign up by January 15th and get a 10% discount. Just mention me, her favorite friend Jenn! ; )

Stopped by and commented over at Celeste's blog. Awesome! c
ReplyDeleteI soooo hope I win this! I need this in my life!
ReplyDeleteMy New Year's Resolutions can all pretty much be summed up in one word:
::Endurance::
I know what I need to do, I need to stick with it and be persistent!
Oh, and count me in for the push-up challenge.
Love Celeste's blog and I'm glad to find yours too!
ReplyDeleteMy New Year's goal is to get my body into better shape so I can eventually get pregnant again this year. Having 2 kids has really done a number on my abs and back!
Well, I quit making new resolutions a long time ago cause i never stuck to them but I'm getting ready to cut back on SUGAR. I even got a book BEAT SUGAR ADDICTION NOW. so I guess that is my main goal for 2011.(I'm eating chocolate cake right now but its still 2010, right?!)
ReplyDeleteI also like your 3 catagories Jenn. I'm going to work that in
too. I think i'm even going to write all this down and keep some kind of journal or log! You have inspired me! Thanks!
also ,what is the push up challenge? I'm interested too.
ReplyDeleteI have a lot of resolutions this year and am organizing them into categories too. Strengthening my core is actually one of my personal goals so I would LOVE to win this give away! :)
ReplyDeleteGood for you Jenn! I don't really make resolutions, but I guess making goals is basically the same thing(just a less intimidating word) so I've got a few things I'd like to accomplish in 2011 and also keep up with some I'm glad I achieved in 2010. Happy 2011 to you
ReplyDeleteMy goal this year is to get on top of things in the home front, like organizing and time management since I feel I have none of those and everything is quite chaotic!
ReplyDeleteI visited Due Fit and am excited to read it more! I wish I knew about it when I was pregnant!
ReplyDeleteI am with you babe. I might alternate things a tad to fit me and my scedule but I like your set up!
ReplyDeleteOh, I could totally use this!!
ReplyDeleteMy New Year's goal/word would be: consistent. I start so many things and don't finish them...exercise is a perfect example.
I'm a follower!
Hooray! Such great ideas, all at the perfect time. I'm in!
ReplyDeleteMaybe third times a charm for the 100pushups? Hahaha for me anyways.
ReplyDeletethe flu? on the very last day of the year? i hope you are feeling better & are up & at 'em tomorrow!
ReplyDeletei'm so with you on all of this! 2011 is going to be the absolute best; i just know it! thank you also for the link to the 100 pushups challenge. i'm always looking for ways to get "those arms" & this might be just the ticket.
one of my resolutions is to be better at staying in touch with out of state friends. otherwise, i might not be able to count them as friends, which would be flat out sad.
happy new year to you & your family!
p.s. thank you so much for mentioning my little blog. you have no idea how much it is appreciated!
My 2011 goal is to PRESENT at all times and to feel HAPPY! I'm working on how to be that again! I love your blog by the way & yes, I am a follower!!! Thanks for everything!

I hope you are feeling better! Just stopping in to say I left a comment for Celeste over at Due Fit. :)
ReplyDeleteI really need to get back to being fit. I had way to many Christmas treats. What a better way to get fit with great college friends who are inspiring!! Thanks Jenn and Celeste. I'm in!!
ReplyDeleteBy the way I left a comment at Celeste's blog!!
ReplyDeletethis year I took the time to actually write down my goals for 2011 & have them posted for myself where I can see them in front of me. One of my goals is to train & run in a 5k marathon. Since I'm not that good of a runner, this is going to be a great challenge for me. Having this workout would help me get in the mood & have a strong core to keep me running when I want to stop!

ah. exactly what i need.
ReplyDeletethanks for the links... and good luck to me!
love, lindsay
I would love to win this!! My husband grew up with Celeste in Illinois, and I would love to see her workout video! My new year's resolution is to work out 3-5 times every week. I'm in ok shape, but I am working on all-over toning this year.....
ReplyDeleteis it possible to have your baby be just a handful of months away from being 14 years old, and having gotten trim not long after she was born (which has actually been a long time since now), but feel like you just had a baby?! perhaps it was cause i was young then, and now i'm not. but yeah. this is great motivation for me jenn. so count me in the mix or trying to be healthier. am re-tackling my allergy diet (which shed mega pounds for me in '09) but this time am becoming more active than i was the first time around. gotta get trim and FIT! :D
ReplyDeletehopefully i'm not too late! my new year's resolution is to stay healthy and get my stomach back into shape, the kind of shape Celeste is talking about! i love the sound of no crunchies Ü
ReplyDeletei also left a comment for Celeste on her Due Fit blog :)
ReplyDeleteJenn, I thought your post was motivating because I have been thinking a lot about being better all around and happier. So I guess that is my resolution. I would love to win the prize.
ReplyDeleteElla was talking about Ivy today, she said that Ivy's hair is like her Sleeping Beauty Barbie.
What a great giveaway!!! A customized exercise plan, who couldn't benifit from that! Like everyone else in the universe I have a goal to get back in shape, but also to be more prepared. Which includes things like canning, organizing, brushing up on long lost skills, and developing new ones that I've had on my list for a while now.
ReplyDeleteCount me in on the push ups, I'll get there eventually! ;)
